V. Action items

a. The Fort Worth Main Street America pilot program is being considered for a two-year extension. The city selected two corridors, Historic Northside (Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce) and Polytechnic Heights (Southeast Fort Worth Inc.), when it initiated the $650,000 Main Street pilot for three years in 2022, according to Martha Collins, Fort Worth’s economic development manager.

The goal has been to increase place-based community organizations’ ability to revitalize commercial and historic routes. The objectives are to create a clear vision, enable stakeholders to take the lead, and use Main Street America’s four-point framework for economic vitality, design, organization, and promotion to implement innovative transformation initiatives.

Staff recommendations include: approving the continuation of the Fort Worth Main Street America pilot program, which will not exceed $300,000 in total; relocating and extending the Polytechnic pilot program from southeast Fort Worth to Texas Wesleyan University; extending the contract and adding new Main Street America training and assistance; and continuing Historic Northside District funding and tech support with the Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for a period of two years. The motion was unanimously approved.
