Dane Myers, an outfielder with the Miami Marlins, had an exciting game against the Red Sox on Sunday at Fenway Park.
In the fourth inning, he caught the ball with his glove and then dropped it into the visitor’s bullpen in right field after colliding with the wall, almost denying Boston’s Wilyer Abreu a two-run home run. At the time, the Red Sox were ahead 2-1 thanks to the long ball.

Then, with Myers’ Marlins down one run in the top of the ninth, he smashed a home run of his own. Miami’s 5-3 comeback victory over the Red Sox was made possible by Boston relief pitcher Greg Weissert’s game-winning single home run.

However, Myers claimed that he was heckled by spectators in the right field bleachers during the last two innings of Sunday’s game. He claims that when Boston took a 3-2 lead in the eighth, the crowd started to jeer at him, and after he hit the game-winning home run, he was subjected to offensive remarks.
Fenway security assisted in the ejection of one supporter in particular from the game.
When asked if the fan had said anything disrespectful, Myers responded, “Perhaps so” (via the Associated Press’ Ken Powtak). I really don’t want to discuss that. most likely enjoying themselves while sipping beers outside. It is a game of baseball. I won’t get into the specifics of what I heard. That’s a component of the game. I believe I need to be an expert and likely manage it a bit more skillfully.
Myers claimed it went too far and that he was offended, but he did not elaborate on what the fan had said to him.
Myers stated, “I won’t necessarily go into exactly what I heard.” In essence, though, I asked, “Would you be saying this if you were on the field directly in front of me?” The entire section kind of got going because it was essentially just one person.
I don’t enjoy constantly interacting with fans in that manner. I accept their freedom to speak and express their opinions since they are fans. Kind of like it happened, I never want things to go south again.
A fan who was present posted a video on X that showed Myers interacting with boisterous spectators in the stands. The audience booed the 29-year-old loudly in between innings, and two security personnel joined him in right field.

Myers, who is batting.237 with a season OPS of.631, was nevertheless pleased to use his home run to keep his club from being swept.
I feel like I haven’t been performing well for the squad lately. However, he told Marlins Radio Networks Stephen Strom after the game that it was nice to be able to come through in that moment since there was a lot of support from the club and the staff.
