According to investigators, the deaths of two people in Raynham on Friday were determined to be murder-suicide. At the moment, the children in the house were unharmed.
Around 12:05 p.m. on August 8, police arrived at a residence located at 134 Elm Street West in Raynham, according to a statement from Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn.
According to the DA, Marie Hunt, 37, was discovered imprisoned in a bedroom on the second floor with what appeared to be an abdominal gunshot wound. Mark Henshaw, 35, appeared to have been shot in the head.
Quinn said Monday that following an investigation, the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that Hunt’s death was a homicide and Henshaw’s was a suicide.
According to the DA, Hunt and Henshaw were declared dead at the spot by emergency personnel after both adults were discovered on the bed in the closed bedroom.
According to Quinn’s office, two children were there at the house when the police arrived and were unharmed. The house was shared by the two adults.
According to her union, Hunt worked as a correction officer at Old Colony Correctional Center. In a message on Sunday, the Massachusetts Correction Officers Federated Union expressed their sorrow over her passing.
The union added, “We honor her memory with quiet reverence and deep respect, even though words cannot express the depth of this sorrow.” With our steadfast love and support, MCOFU stands strongly by Marie’s children and family. Grief brings us together. We find strength in remembering.
The investigation is being conducted by Raynham police and the Massachusetts State Police assigned to the DA’s office.
