FoxBorough Those who supported keeping it in the game would have won by two touchdowns if the tush push vote had been scored like a football game.

The 32 teams that make up the league unanimously decided to keep it going for the foreseeable future. Ten teams supported a ban on the contentious play, while 22 teams supported its continued legality.

A quarterback sneak variation known as the “tush push” involves multiple players lining up behind the quarterback and pushing him forward beyond the line he is trying to cross.

Although the Eagles made the play popular, it has been employed by a number of other teams.Since 2022, 12 different teams have scored on tush push plays, according to ESPN.

The Patriots might follow. Josh McDaniels, the offensive coordinator, discussed the difficulties of rehearsing the play on Monday, but he also stated that he isn’t ruling it out.

I’ve never done it. According to McDaniels, that doesn’t imply I wouldn’t do it. It depends, I believe, on whether you require that in order to acquire more inertia and advance the ball. The Eagles are obviously very good at it and have been for a few years. The play doesn’t bother me. Each team will most likely decide for itself, in my opinion.

The possibility that it could injure defensive players during practice is one reason why the Patriots might decide not to utilize it. Goal line plays already involve a lot of physical contact. Players must especially get low and struggle for as much leverage as they can while the quarterback is being pushed forward in order to do the tush push.

According to McDaniels, practicing the play at the right level of intensity can be dangerous.

According to McDaniels, it’s a difficult play to master while practicing with full pads. Because it goes without saying that we won’t risk injuries and other problems by forming a number of scrums on the practice field with our own defense.

If you want to accomplish that, you’ll need to come up with innovative ways to achieve it, he continued. Defending it is probably the same discussion. If we can’t dive at the center’s legs and do everything defenses attempt to stop it, how can we defend this?

Under McDaniels, the Patriots were renowned for their ability to execute quarterback sneaks while Tom Brady was the quarterback.

However, a new head coach is in charge in Foxborough, ushering in a new era.

McDaniels stated, “We’ll consider everything that could help our team win, and [Mike Vrabel] will undoubtedly make the final decision on that.”
