  • Patriots unveil 12-foot Tom Brady statue outside of Gillette Stadium

The New England Patriots unveiled the 12-foot statue on Friday, which was meant to honor the famous quarterback’s remarkable career and depict him in a stoic post-victory attitude. However, it has caused division among some Boston.com supporters since it was made public.

1,334 people participated in a recent Boston.com poll, and their thoughts on the statue ranged widely. Of them, 337 readers enthusiastically praised the statue, 476 thought it was alright, and 521 thought it was terrible.

The statue’s understated attitude and simple design strike a profound chord with some devotees. It expresses his feelings following a victory. “Stoic, triumphant, but on to the next,” Charlestown resident Andy remarked. Proponents of the statue contend that Brady’s attention, humility, and unwavering focus on the next task are all wonderfully captured in the posture.

Not everyone, though, concurs with this reading. The statue’s lack of enthusiasm and vitality disappointed a lot of readers.

They might have used a lot of different stances. This one was dull, in my opinion, Tom from Worcester stated.

Although the statue was clearly intended to commemorate Brady’s reputation as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, many have questioned whether it accurately represents the essence of his accomplishments.

According to Jim, a reader from Medfield, he ought to be hoisting the Lombardi trophy.

The craftsmanship of the statue, particularly its proportions, was the subject of some of the most outspoken critics. Newton’s Mitch G. expressed his opinion that the proportions are completely incorrect. It’s an uninspired stance.

Whether you agree or disagree, the statue has surely succeeded in its mission to pay tribute to the legendary Tom Brady.

Readers’ opinions about Gillette Stadium’s new Tom Brady statue are discussed below.

The responses have undergone minor grammatical and clarity corrections.

What do you think of the Tom Brady statue at Gillette Stadium?

It s awful.

Regardless of your opinion on Brady, there is a certain amount of ridiculousness in this. Godzilla and King Kong should have monuments that are 12 feet tall.Harvard’s Elizabeth H.

uninspired and stiff. a little off in terms of anatomy. And it doesn’t look anything like Brady. does not portray his athleticism and grace.Brookline and Josephine

This statue seems to show a worker from the late nineteenth-century Gilded Age/Reconstruction period, or perhaps a mediocre football player from the 1930s. This enormous bronze sculpture does not capture the spirit and substance of the Patriots’ 20-year dominance.Norwood, Terry

It evokes no feelings. I was instantly reminded of The Breakfast Club’s Judd Nelson.Gloucester, Dennis

There is an imbalance in the statue. The arms are too lengthy. The head is too little. It’s a good position, but not very good.Boxford and Dave

It s OK.

The idea appeals to me, but upon closer inspection, the head appears abnormally small. That, in my opinion, creates a somewhat strange gap between the head and the body. But it’s all right. I am grateful that the sculptor put a lot of effort into it.Quincy, Linda S.

In addition to the fact that Tom Brady’s football tosses nearly always turned out exactly as he intended, his motion was one of pure elegance. It would have been more appropriate to have a statue of Tom tossing. Anyone can raise their right hand and stand. Tom is the best ball-thrower in the world.Doug S., previously of Cranston, Rhode Island, now resides in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

The benchmark for Boston sports legends was established by the Bobby Orr statue. It was a famous stance. Despite its niceness, the Brady statue is not particularly iconic.Lowell, Justin S.

Why didn’t they put his jersey’s number 12 on it? It appears strange to be so blank.Jim and Acton

I love it!

The statue is appropriate and well-deserved for what Tom (and his team) accomplished during his time with NE. With its associations with 17 (AFC East titles), 12 feet tall (Tom’s jersey number), and a six-sided pedestal (his Super Bowl victories), the statue itself appropriately depicts Tom.Rich C., Truro, North

Great sculptures that offer an insight into the greats who shaped a team may be found outside of many stadiums. Tom Brady becoming the first at Gillette is appropriate.Shrewsbury, John

It is an unexpected, life-altering, and consistently triumphant manifestation of the man himself. I will always adore this statue because it reflects the greatness that #12 brought to New England and subsequently to Tampa, where my wife and I moved after Tom did. I adore Tom.Ron C., a former Clinton resident from Tampa, Florida

I was surprised to see that the face resembled Tommy more than I had anticipated. These monuments typically don’t resemble the honoree at all. Fantastic work, Buccacio team! Good job Patriots honoring the GOAT.Belchertown, J.M.

While on TV, I thought it was just ok, we stopped yesterday to see it in person and really thought it was a job well done. While the head isn t quite in proportion to the rest of the body, the details are amazing and it really does look like Brady!Kim, Burlington
