According to authorities, two 11-week-old puppies were found abandoned in Randolph’s woods on Friday.
One male and one female dog were discovered thrown to the side of a route between a school and Barbara Road, and a bystander notified authorities early Friday morning, according to a Facebook post from the Randolph authorities Department.
The abandonment happened on or before Friday, according to the police.
VCA South Shore Weymouth Animal Hospital received the puppies in a hurry. Police said the male puppy had to be put down because of the severity of his injuries.
According to WCVB, the puppy that made it through is doing fine and receiving treatment.
The public is being asked to help Randolph police identify the individual or people who left the puppies behind.
Police posted on Facebook that the perpetrators are probably basement breeders of these mixed pups, which may be Shepard/hound mixes with a noticeable black tail.
Anyone with information on someone breeding similar canines or who may have witnessed unusual activity in the neighborhood is asked to call Detective Kevin Aldred at 781-963-1212.
