The Greene County Fair officially kicked off its 75th annual celebration on Monday, bringing a full week of rides, games, entertainment, and community pride to East Tennessee.
Locals gathered in droves to mark the milestone event, which not only commemorates three-quarters of a century of fair tradition but also celebrates the fair’s recent title of “Champion of Champions” awarded by the Tennessee Association of Fairs—the highest honor given by the organization.
“That was a big award… we walked away with the Champion of Champions Fair,” said Rick Clark, President of the Greene County Fair. “That’s the biggest award that’s given, and we were excited to get that.”
The fair owes much of its success to the 8,500 volunteer hours that go into planning and running the event each year. According to Clark, the planning begins almost immediately after the previous year’s fair concludes.
What to Expect This Week
- Birthday Bash – Wednesday Night
- Fireworks Show – Saturday Night Finale (first in years)
- Fairest of the Fair Pageant, live musical acts, and other community showcases
- Classic rides, food stalls, and family games daily
“We haven’t done this in a long time, but we’ll have a fireworks show at the close of the fair,” Clark said. “People on the grounds and in the area will see it—so that’s new for us.”
Hours of Operation
- Monday–Friday: 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.
- Saturday: Opens early at 1 p.m.
As the Greene County Fair celebrates its landmark 75th year, organizers and attendees alike are reflecting on decades of tradition—and looking ahead to an even brighter future filled with community spirit and small-town fun.
