Because he believed his partner was cheating on him, a man in California was found guilty of killing his girlfriend’s mother. According to the prosecution, he “brutally beat” the 65-year-old to death with his “bare hands” and a “piece of glass” off a table.
According to a news release from the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office, prosecutors described Kevin Durran Hart’s motivation for hitting Jackie Robinson, his girlfriend’s mother, at her Seaside home in May 2023 as “imagined infidelity.”
The DA’s office claims that after realizing his fiancée was cheating, “Hart became enraged” and “chosen to take his anger out on Mrs. Robinson.”
Prosecutors claimed that “he broke into Mrs. Robinson’s house and viciously beat her to death.” He was covered in blood when Seaside Police discovered him inside the house. There was no success in saving Mrs. Robinson’s life.
A jury found Hart, 47, guilty on Friday of first-degree murder and using a dangerous weapon in the conduct of the crime, according to the DA’s office. He entered a not guilty plea and stated that he had nothing to do with the murder that took place at Robinson’s house in the 1200 block of Hamilton Avenue.
According to The Sacramento Bee, Robinson’s obituary stated that she was a mother of two, a native of the Monterey Peninsula, and an active member of her church as the president of the senior usher board. According to the tribute, “Jackie had a smile that made anyone who came into her presence feel loved and a very kind and loving heart.”
Hart’s sentencing is set on May 7. According to reports, he might spend at least 26 years or even his entire life behind bars.
