Elkton Murder Suspect Caught in New York City After Intense Manhunt

Elkton Murder Suspect Caught in New York City After Intense Manhunt. ELKTON — According to the Elkton Police Department, a guy who was detained in New York City and is awaiting extradition to Cecil County is accused of shooting down a customer during a drug exchange on a local street last month.

The 30-year-old Macio Delion Freeman, who was arrested earlier this month by New York City Police Department officers in an unrelated criminal case, was identified by investigators as the murder suspect. After discovering that Freeman is a suspect in the Elkton murder, authorities there have been detaining him at the New York City Department of Correction, police said.

EPD Lt. Ronald Odom, an agency detective and spokesperson, said Tuesday that he is expected to be extradited back here next week.

According to authorities, Freeman is suspected of shooting and killing Daryl Rozenski on a street in Hollingsworth Manor at around two in the morning on November 2. According to authorities, Rozenski was attempting to purchase cocaine from Freeman when he was shot and robbed.

According to Odom, Rozenski lost consciousness after the shooting and tried to flee, but his car struck a pole and a fence in the rear part of the Hollingsworth Manor subdivision.

According to authorities, first responders were not aware that Rozenski had been shot while they were at the crash scene and transferring him to ChristianaCares Union Hospital in Elkton. According to authorities, Rozenski was declared dead not long after he got to the hospital.

According to Odom, Rozenski’s autopsy at the Maryland Medical Examiner’s Office in Baltimore revealed his deadly gunshot wound. Odom added that the bullet had damaged an artery. “The ME found a gunshot wound to his right side and ruled his death a homicide,” Odom said.

According to Odom, “We were able to develop him as the suspect rather quickly.” EPD officers searched Hollingsworth Manor for security camera footage and witnesses, and they were successful in identifying Freeman as the murder suspect.

The probe is still ongoing despite Freeman’s arrest. Elkton Police Department Det. Mlodzianowski can be reached via email at [email protected] or by phone at 410-398-4200.
