Tragic Turn: Two Arrested in the Heartbreaking Murder of Woodland Hills Doctor Outside His Practice. The August shooting death of a Woodland Hills physician outside his own business has resulted in the arrest of two individuals.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the shooting occurred on August 23 outside of Dr. Hamid Mirshojae’s Woodland Hills practice, which is situated in the 5900 block of Topanga Canyon Boulevard.
According to authorities, Mirshojae, 61, was shot many times right outside his car as he was leaving his office after being accosted by a shooter. At the scene, he was declared dead.
Surveillance footage at the time showed the shooter wandering around the hospital parking lot for approximately an hour before shooting Mirshojae, leading them to conclude that he was the victim of a targeted strike.
Police found the two suspected culprits, one of whom was in Texas, after months of inquiry.
Ashley Rose Sweeting, 40, of Reseda, and Evan Hardman, 41, of Tomball, Texas, were taken into custody on Tuesday. According to authorities, Sweeting was taken into custody in the San Fernando Valley, while Hardman was taken into custody in the greater Houston region.
“The Los Angeles Police Department worked in concert and close relationship with the Federal Bureau of Investigation Field Offices in Los Angeles and Houston, to locate and apprehend both suspects,” the statement read. In addition, the Houston Police Department, Harris County Sheriff’s Department in Texas, and the USPS provided assistance.
Sweeting and Hardman were both taken into custody and charged with murder. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office will hear the investigators’ case before filing it.
The motivation behind the shooting has yet to be revealed by investigators.
According to Mirshojae’s friends, he recently got married and had a baby girl.
