Third Suspect Arrested in Murder of 15-Year-Old in Syracuse. WSYR-TV, Syracuse, New York — On December 3, a male 17-year-old from Syracuse was taken into custody in relation to the December 2023 murder of a 15-year-old in Syracuse.
Karon Works, 15, was killed in a gunshot on Cheney Street on December 12, 2023, which prompted Syracuse police to respond.
On December 19, 2023, police initially detained a male 17-year-old for the murder and charged him with second-degree murder and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.
A 16-year-old man was later taken into custody by Syracuse police on January 26, 2024, in connection with the murder. He was additionally accused of second-degree murder and unlawful possession of a weapon.
On Monday, December 9, Syracuse police revealed that a third suspect, a male 17-year-old, had also been taken into custody in connection with the murder.
Following his arrest, he was sent to the Hillbrook Juvenile Detention Center and charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
