NYC School Incident: 12-Year-Old Girl Handcuffed After Fight, Mother Demands Explanation

NYC School Incident 12-Year-Old Girl Handcuffed After Fight, Mother Demands Explanation

According to authorities on Wednesday, a 12-year-old girl was placed in handcuffs at a Bronx middle school after a fight with another student last month, as her mother demanded explanations for the incident.

The story of the sixth-grader began when she got into a “physical altercation” on Nov. 19, according to the NYPD, at the Intermediate School 584 on St. Anns Ave. in the South Bronx.

Just before 2:30 p.m., the kid reportedly became “increasingly agitated” and began striking the officer and a school administrator, prompting a school safety agent to attempt to put her in Velcro cuffs, according to police.

According to investigators, the safety agent used metal handcuffs when woman refused to comply.

According to a police spokesperson, the mother was already at the school and was “provided information regarding the incident.” The youngster remained in handcuffs for around fifteen minutes before being released to her mother.

However, the sequence of events contradicts what Christine Henson, the irate mother, claimed to have seen when she came to pick up her daughter Faith that day.

Henson asserts in a interview that the preteen was handcuffed for three hours and that neither the police nor the school administration have yet to provide an explanation for why she was placed in hand in the first place.

I asked the school safety officer, “‘Why is she in handcuffs? Can you please take those off of her? She said, ‘She’s not going anywhere,” she declared. When Henson noticed her agitated child in the chair, she informed the outlet.

“My daughter received criminal treatment.” She was truly violated. Henson went on, “It doesn’t make sense,” adding that she had taken a picture and a video of her daughter with her hands in handcuffs behind her back.

Faith also says she has no idea why she was collared by the NYPD-affiliated school safety agent.

“It was just out of nowhere,” according to the pre-teen. “They did it sneakily. I was confused on why they did it. It felt terrible. It didn’t feel right. They just did it. They didn’t say why. Now my wrist hurts.”

After visiting urgent care the next day due to wrist and neck pain, the child now wants to change schools because she is “frightened” and refuses to attend classes.

Her mother went on to say that her child received no disciplinary punishment after the alleged incident, and she intends to sue the school. There were no immediate details provided regarding the reported altercation with the other student or the circumstances surrounding it.
