Following the death of their 7-year-old daughter in a tragic collision that badly injured her mother, a Texas family is still dealing with the fallout.
She was killed in a crash, and Joel Gonzalez Chacin, 41, the alleged drunk driver, showed up in court Tuesday morning.
For the murder of Ivory Smith, a second-grader at Houston’s Klenk Elementary School, he was charged with intoxication manslaughter.
Additionally, Smith’s mother, Christina Quainoo, suffered serious injuries in the tragic collision.
When the 41-year-old T-boned Christina and her small daughter on Sunday, December 1 at 2:45 a.m., authorities told Fox News Digital that he was drunk.
Chacin allegedly drove away after taking pictures of the crash site “instead of helping,” according to the police. The two victims, according to the police, were just a short distance from their homes.

“Please keep the family and loved ones of the juvenile victim in your prayers this holiday season,” Harris County Constable Mark Herman stated.
Family members recalled 7-year-old Ivory as joyful and lighthearted in a GoFundMe.
“Ivory brought so much light into our lives in her short time with us, and we will forever cherish the joy and love she gave so freely,” according to her family.
“As we navigate this profound loss, we are also facing the difficult reality of seeking justice for Ivory,” they stated.
According to the family, Quainoo has a protracted recuperation process as she deals with the tragic death of her small daughter.
“She will have a long road to recovery and need everyone’s support,” the GoFundMe stated. “Please keep our family and the father, Keion Smith, in your prayers during this incredibly difficult time.”
