The whole WJZ Viewing Area is under a WJZ Alert Day on Thursday due to the possibility of wind gusts of 35 to 50 mph, rain and snow showers, and occasionally difficult travel.

Late Wednesday night until midday Thursday, a strong arctic cold front moves through the region. There may be some rain bands and wet snow showers in the region due to this arctic front. Although the majority of the fall will be light, travel may occasionally be challenging due to the strong and windy winds. Before the worst wind gusts subside, Thursday morning and early Thursday afternoon will see winds of 35 to 50 mph. Due to the arrival of cold air, there is a chance of a few snow squalls late Thursday morning.

Thursday night is going to be windy and extremely cold. Wind chills will reach the teens if there is a strong and gusty wind, but lows will only drop into the upper 20s.

Friday is blustery, bright, and unusually cold for the season. Wind chills will be at their warmest around 30°, although highs will reach the upper 30s. With a partly clear sky and highs close to 40° on Saturday, the cold will persist into the beginning of next weekend. With a largely bright sky and highs in the lower 50s on Sunday, the cold starts to subside.

On Monday, the next storm system that affects our region will move in. By then, there will be enough warm air in the area for any showers that come through Monday afternoon and evening to turn into rain.
