On Sunday, a man in Illinois was shot dead by police after allegedly threatening residents and employees of a senior care facility with a chainsaw.
Authorities on Monday did not officially identify the man, who was reportedly on the River Glen of St. Charles property in St. Charles, Illinois, to cut down a tree on Sunday. However, the man allegedly challenged people after entering the facility’s lobby shirtless.
Authorities claimed that despite their efforts to defuse the situation, the man persisted in threatening locals with the chainsaw. Police claimed that their attempt to restrain the subject with a Taser was unsuccessful.
“[Illinois State Police] will conduct a thorough investigation into the use of force portion of this incident,” the state police said. ” After its completion, ISP will turn all reports over to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office for an independent review of the facts.”
According to a River Glen of St. Charles representative, the individual was never permitted entry to the establishment.
