On Saturday, a hunter in Alabama discovered the body of a woman from Marsyville, Ohio, who was last seen in September.
According to the Cleburne County sheriff’s office, the hunter reported the body at approximately 11:30 a.m., and deputies were dispatched to a location five miles northeast of Cheaha State Park.
The remains were subsequently determined to be those of Vendula “Wendy” Rose by the county coroner’s office.
The Marysville Police Division reported that Rose was on a hiking vacation in Alabama, more than nine hours away, when she was last seen on September 24.
On October 2, she was expected to return to Marysville, but she never showed up.

Investigators discovered her automobile parked at the Pinhoti Trailhead on October 8, shortly after she was first reported missing.
In addition to using helicopters and drones to search isolated locations, Cleburne County officers conducted a foot search of 36 miles of adjacent trails in search of Rose.
On Monday, the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office promised to deliver a formal statement about Rose’s recuperation.
