Local police say that on Friday, a woman in Texas shot an armed man who was trying to “force his way” into her home.
It was around 7:54 p.m. on Friday, and a woman called the DeSoto Police Department to report “an active disturbance” in the 400 block of Raintree Circle. She said an unknown guy was in her backyard with a gun.
Police said that the person taking the 911 call could hear the guy screaming and yelling as he “attempted to force his way into the home through the rear garage door.”
At the same time, people across the street called 911 to say they heard gunshots.
Three minutes after the woman called, police arrived at her house and found her standing in front of it. She told them she thought she had shot the man “somewhere at the back of the house.”
When the cops got inside, they found the man, Octavio Flores Mondragon, 35, lying on the ground in the garage with a gun next to him. He had been hit in the face and the chest twice.
He was taken to a nearby hospital and is in very bad shape.
FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth reports that the woman told police she saw a dark truck following her home after she left a nearby Taco Bell. Following her into her neighborhood, the truck pulled into the back driveway behind her car.
The woman hid inside, called 911, and got a gun ready. When Mondragon tried to break into her house, she shot him several times and hit him twice.
Mongradon is being charged with breaking into a house with the plan to commit another felony. Police said they haven’t found a reason for the crime.
