LAS VEGAS — It was Sunday in Oak Creek at Red Rock Canyon when a hiker fell while leading a climb. They were saved by other hikers.

Metro’s Search and Rescue said in an Instagram post that the person died when they fell off a rock face in Oak Creek called “Marijuana.”

“During the fall, their top piece of gear came off, and their leg caught their rope, flipping them over and hitting their head. They were knocked out for about 20 minutes,” the post said.

Another member of the search and rescue team was flown to the victim to start healing their injuries. The person and their partner were then hoisted up. They were taken to the helipad at the BLM Fire Station, where the victim was flown to the hospital. No information was given about how the hurt person was doing.
