Five Men Fatally Shot Across Three Wichita Locations Were Acquainted, Police Report

Five men were shot and killed at three homes in south Wichita on Sunday, according to police.

The guys are all from Wichita and ranged in age from 39 to 68, according to Andrew Ford, a spokesman for Wichita police on Monday. Their names were not released.

It was 5:44 p.m. when the first report of a shooting came in. The call came from a home in the 1700 block of Santa Fe. Ford said that when police got to the house, they found a man who seemed to have been shot dead inside.

Police were also checking on a house in the 1900 block of South Laura at the same time. Ford said that they found three more guys inside the house who were also dead from what looked like gunshot wounds.

While looking for Laura in the neighborhood, police looked through the window of a different house on the street and saw a man who looked like he was in trouble in the living room. The man was found dead in the house after police broke in and shot him.

There were five bodies found. One was found at a home in Santa Fe, three were inside a home in South Laura, and the fifth was at another house in South Laura.

“Based on what we know now, we think one of the dead is the shooter,” Ford said.

Ford also said that the cops don’t think the killings were random.

“The investigation is still going on, and the information we’re giving you is just the beginning…” Ford said, “We do think that all of the victims knew each other, either as family or friends.”

Nobody is being held, and the cops are not looking for a suspect.
