PORTLAND, Ore. — This week, the Oregon Coast will be hit by high seas, storms, and waves up to 28 feet high.
It is that time of year when the waves are very high in the Pacific Northwest on November 15, 16, and 17. Flooding along the coast is possible during this time because the tides may be six inches or higher than the highest normal tide mark.
To start the week, dangerous waves are also expected. On Monday and Tuesday, 22- to 28-foot breakers will hit the Oregon Coast. From 10 p.m. Monday to 10 p.m. Tuesday, the National Weather Service says there will be high surf.
The National Weather Service’s Medford office says that dangerously high waves will hit all southern Oregon coastlines and beaches Monday night through Tuesday night. The waves will rise and reach their highest point Tuesday morning at 25 to 28 feet. “The surf level is going to drop to 20 to 25 feet Tuesday night.” Be very careful when you’re near the beach. Do not get too close to the ocean. In the surf zone, rocks, logs, jetties, and driftwood are not safe.
Along the Oregon Coast, showers and thunderstorms are likely all week.
