NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The North Little Rock Police Department is looking into a fatal car accident on the Broadway Bridge that shut it down on Sunday night.
In a statement released Sunday night, the NLRPD said that officers were called to the scene of a car accident at about 5:42 p.m.
Officers said that when they got there, they saw that a small moped and a car had crashed.
The person who was riding the moped was declared dead at the scene, by police. The person’s name has not been released yet because the next of kin has not been notified.
Detectives said that both cars were going south across the bridge at the time of the accident. The minivan driver stayed at the scene and was questioned by police.
Around 6:45 p.m., all lanes of the bridge were closed to cars and people walking on it. Around 9:30 p.m., officials said the bridge would be open again.
