Man Arrested in Alabama for Robbing Multiple Banks in LaGrange and Newnan

Police in LaGrange, Georgia, say that a man who robbed banks in LaGrange and Newnan, Georgia, was caught in Alabama.

Mack Carr was caught by the Roanoke, Alabama, police on November 1. He is being charged with robbing and trying to rob two gas stations in Georgia.

Authorities say Carr stole from two banks and tried to steal from another bank in October and early November. This is why he is being charged. LaGrange police say that on October 12, they were called to the 200 North Greenwood Street Synovus Bank because of a bank robbery.

LaGrange police say the first investigation showed that a guy, later identified as Carr, walked into the bank, walked up to the teller, showed her a note, and asked for money. He was said to be 45 to 50 years old, about 6 feet tall, and weighed about 220 pounds. He was wearing a baseball cap, a medical mask, sunglasses, gloves, blue pants, a blue button-down shirt, and dark shoes.

LaGrange Police say that on October 31, a guy fitting the description went into the PNC bank at 1417 Lafayette Parkway wearing the same clothes. The man did give the note to the teller, but then he left the bank.

Then, on November 1, the Newnan Police Department was called to 102 Newnan Crossing Blvd. to report a robbery by a guy wearing the same disguise. Police say the man gave the teller a note and then left with an unknown amount of money. Police in Newnan were able to identify a possible suspect car and put out a “be on the look out” notice.

Roanoke police found the car in Roanoke and arrested Mr. Carr.

The car and Carr’s home were both searched, and the LaGrange Police Department says there is “numerous items of evidence to support that he was involved in both successful robberies and the robbery attempt.”

Carr is being held in Randolph County, Alabama, while he waits to be sent to another country.
