There is a lot of snow in some parts of New Mexico, Colorado, Oklahoma, and Texas. We are also seeing heavy rain and thunderstorms form in the Texas panhandle, northeast Texas, and western Oklahoma east of the panhandle before this strong low-pressure system arrives.
We are seeing winds pick up in the higher elevations of northeast New Mexico and southeast Colorado as the low-pressure area gets deeper. Heavy snow, poor visibility, and very cold wind chills are making people in these places more worried about blizzards.
Because of this, the National Weather Service has sent out a Blizzard Warning for some parts of New Mexico until 8 pm MST. Even though there aren’t any blizzard warnings out for Colorado right now, it may still get very cold and snowy in the mountains and at higher levels.
From now until tomorrow morning, the chance of bad weather will also rise in some parts of Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. It’s possible that there will be damaging winds, big hail, frequent lightning, heavy rain, and even a few tornadoes.
