Maryland State Police Helicopter Assists in Daring Rescue of Injured Hunter in West Virginia

WEST VIRGINIA — On Tuesday, Maryland State Police (MSP) units helped save a shooter who was hurt in West Virginia.

Around 7 a.m., MSP said that units in West Virginia’s Grant County went to a “remote area on a mountain” to help a hunter who had been hurt when he fell from a tree stand.

Rescue workers asked MSP’s Aviation Command to help with a rescue by aerial hoist.

An air group from Cumberland, Maryland, flew in and did the rescue. They dropped a responder who helped get him ready to be taken out.

People on the ground helped him stay stable during the process.

He was taken to a nearby hospital to get more care and be checked out.
