Police say that a man from Bath, New York, beat up a stranger at a store who was wearing a Trump 2024 hat on Friday. The man was arrested.
Police in the Village of Bath said that Robert Yott, 60, was charged with second-degree assault, a crime, and fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor.
Police said they were sent to the Tops Friendly Markets on West Morris Street around 10 a.m. on Friday because of a report of a fight.
When the police got to the scene, they heard that Yott had allegedly argued with a stranger who was wearing a Trump 2024 hat.
According to the probe, Yott also got angry with the stranger and hit the victim several times in the head and mouth.
Police said the victim’s teeth broke and their mouth got bloody because of it. They stressed that the two people did not know each other.
Yott was caught and taken to the Steuben County Jail, where he is being held until his hearing.
There are only about 48 hours left until Election Day, when a new president will be chosen. Tensions are still rising, even when people wear hats to show who they want to be president.
The San Francisco 49ers’ Nick Bosa wore a “Make America Great Again” hat to a live interview after a game last week.
While the 49ers were talking to Brock Purdy after their win over the Cowboys, Bosa walked in on the chat. His hat was then pointed out by Bosa.
He said after the game, “I’m not going to talk too much about it, but I think it’s an important time.”
While this was going on, Robert Rivas, the 71st speaker of the California State Assembly, asked that Bosa be moved.
“I hope Jed York, the CEO of the 49ers, trades Nick Bosa to Mar-a-Lago.” As a 49ers fan for life, Rivas wrote on X, “I’ve seen enough of Bosa in California.” The post has been taken down since then.
A woman was told she had to take off a “Make America Great Again” hat in order to get into the Arizona Cardinals’ stadium for a game in September. The team apologized to her.
Multiple news sources say that Susan Rosener and her husband were on their way to their seats when a stadium worker told her she needed to take off her hat. Rosener is from Arizona and buys Cardinals season tickets every year.
People say Rosener was told she couldn’t wear shirts or hats with political messages on them.
Alyssa Goncales, VP of Field Rep. for Turning Point Action, first wrote about the event on X. She also included what she said were screenshots of text messages with other people who were there and said they were either forced to take off their MAGA hats or saw others being forced to do so.
Cardinals have a list of things that fans are not allowed to bring into State Farm Stadium on game days. However, “political hats or shirts” are not on that list.
In the end, the team said sorry for what happened.
