A guy from Illinois was arrested after he allegedly hit an election judge at a township office while early voting was going on.
Daniel Schmidt, who is 24 years old, is said to have punched an election judge in the face after being told to wait in line to vote.
Around 11 a.m., police were called to the Orlando Park Township Office and found Schmidt being held by several people inside.
People say he tried to cut in front of the line to vote, so the election judge told him to go back to the back of the line. He is said to have tried to get around the judge but was stopped again. Schmidt is said to have swore at the judge and then punched him, which broke the judge’s glasses.
Reports say that people in the area grabbed him and held him down until police came. Schmidt was said to have fought arrest by police.
Schmidt was arrested and charged with several misdemeanors and two felonies for an aggravated attack on a person over 60 years old and in a public place.
He stayed in jail all night and was given a detention hearing date for Monday.
A man in Texas was arrested at the end of last month after he reportedly punched a poll worker who told him he couldn’t be on the property while wearing a Donald Trump hat.
Only 21 states don’t let people wear any political clothing to the polls. Texas is one of them.
Jesse Lutzenberger, 63, was caught on October 24 and charged with a third-degree felony. He is thought to have attacked the woman. He had to pay a $30,000 bond to stay in jail.
