MANILA, Daggett County — On Friday afternoon, a driver and his passenger were caught after they ran from police.
A booking document says that 53-year-old Garth Stringer was pulled over on state Route 43 at 5th East because the license plate on his black Chevrolet Silverado was not real.
The statement said Stringer refused to leave the car when asked for his license, registration, and proof of insurance. He also didn’t answer the question. Stringer allegedly told the police, “We are not going to do this again,” and then he drove off.
Deputies from the Uinta County Sheriff’s Office chased him across the border into Wyoming and onto Wyoming Highway 414; they finally used a spike strip to stop Stinger’s truck.
Police say they searched the car and found a loaded gun on the floor of the driver’s side. They also found drug tools and marijuana.
The statement says that Stinger and his passenger, 41-year-old Brittany Stephenson, were both taken to the Uinta County jail.
