First Alerts Issued for Sunday and Monday: Heavy Rain and Severe Storms Expected

First Alerts Issued for Sunday and Monday Heavy Rain and Severe Storms Expected

Strong clouds have dumped a lot of rain on the northwest counties in the last 24 hours, which has led to Flood Watches. These watches will stay in place on Monday because of the risk of flooding from more heavy rain.

A Flood Watch has been put in place for parts of North Texas until Monday at 3 p.m. Grayson, Cooke, Montague, Wise, Jack, and Young counties, as well as the rest of this area, got several inches of rain on Sunday. It’s going to rain another 2 to 3 inches until Monday afternoon.

It’s possible for an extra 1-2 inches to fall south of I-20 and up to 3.5 inches to fall north of it.

There is a slightly higher chance of several severe storms in northeastern counties on Monday, and there is a slightly higher chance of one severe storm in North Texas as a whole.

Monday, there will be a real chance of tornadoes, hail, and damaging winds because a front will hit a lot of instability and rain. The worst storms are likely to hit the western counties in the morning, the I-35 region and DFW in the afternoon, and the eastern counties in the late afternoon and evening.

On the plus side, the front will bring much-needed rain, cooler weather, and a sunny afternoon just in time for Election Day.

It won’t be quiet for long, though. Early Thursday morning, another front will come through, bringing back more rain and a busy pattern.
