Country Club Hills, Illinois— Police say that the body of a Country Club Hills woman with dementia who had been missing was found early Saturday morning.
The 78-year-old Yolanda Howell had not been seen in 11 days. Police say that around 9:15 a.m., a Country Club Hills Police Department Search and Rescue Drone found a person lying in a gully on Forest Preserves Bartel Grassland property. The body was recognized as Howell’s by his family and the police.
Officials say there is no sign of foul play in Howell’s death.
At first, it was said that Howell had not been seen since October 9, but Ring camera video shows that it was October 8.
A 78-year-old woman was last seen near her home, where 187th Street and Cedar Avenue meet.
Whatell’s family asked everyone in the neighborhood to help with the search on Monday.
“I need to find my mother badly,” Howell’s daughter Claudette Edwards said. “We have no idea where she is.” The fact that she has dementia makes me scared.
Several agencies, such as the Chicago police and the Lake County Sheriff’s Department, have been looking for Howell for the past week. Water bodies had also been searched by divers.
It was Saturday when a group of people got together in a forest preserve in Cook County to keep looking for the woman. After her body was found, the search was stopped.
