Harris in Pennsylvania will get help from workers from New Jersey sent by Coughlin

On Saturday, Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin will take a group of Democratic volunteers to Pennsylvania to work for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in a very important battleground state.

Tomorrow morning, Coughlin’s group will take a bus from Middlesex County to Stroudsburg, which is 82 miles away. Before going back to New Jersey, the volunteers will knock on doors for about six hours.

“We know that beating Donald Trump in the election is important for the future of our country and our democracy.” People from all over New Jersey are calling voters in Pennsylvania to get them to vote for Kamala Harris. “That’s on top of all the great work we’re doing here at home to elect Democrats across the board this year,” Coughlin said. “We’re putting our values and experience to proper use, and we won’t stop until the polls close.”

Monroe County is a close race in politics. In 2020, Joe Biden won by six points, and in 2016, Hillary Clinton won by one point. In the U.S. Senate race in 2022, John Fetterman beat Mehmet Oz of New Jersey by six points. In the race for governor, Democrat Josh Shapiro beat Doug Mastriano of New Jersey by ten points. Shapiro used to work for U.S. Senator Bob Torricelli.

Since four weeks ago, third-party polls have shown that the race between Harris and Trump is very close.

Iris Delgado is the New Jersey state director for the Harris/Walz campaign. She is a top Democratic organizer in Middlesex County. The state is being used as a hub to connect local workers with swing states like Pennsylvania, which she is in charge of.

Coughlin has been the Assembly Speaker of New Jersey for a long time.
