The Red Sox will be receiving reinforcements soon.
Alex Bregman will probably return to the Red Sox roster prior to the All-Star Break (July 14–17), according to Alex Cora, who made this announcement prior to Boston’s game against the Rockies on Wednesday.
Yes, he is currently hitting. Regarding Bregman, Cora said, “I feel good.” He’s probably going to join us this weekend.
After sustaining a serious quad strain during a doubleheader game at Fenway Park on May 23, Bregman has been out since. The 31-year-old third baseman has previously struggled with quad issues, missing 10 weeks of action with the Astros in 2021 due to a similar condition.
Bregman stated in an interview on Monday that he was certain he was getting close to playing again and that he didn’t require a rehab assignment before rejoining Boston’s lineup.
Bregman told the Associated Press on Monday night that he was “trending toward a return here pretty quickly.”Whether it’s the first game following the break or the end of this week. One of the two. However, I’m praying that this week will end soon.
Cora dismissed any discussion about how quickly Bregman’s recovery has progressed, even if waiting until after the All-Star Break would offer him an even longer runway to heal up before the stretch run.
Bregman returning too soon before the Midsummer Classic is not a worry for Cora.

Regarding Bregman’s comeback, Cora stated, “I’m not surprised at all; he was actually shooting for before [the break].” Additionally, positive things happen when you put in the work, trust the people around you, and have a clear objective in mind. Our trainers are excellent in this regard. There have been no setbacks for him. With each treatment, he has been spot on.
He has been extremely honest about his needs and has been open about them, drawing comparisons to his experiences in 21. I have faith in all of the guys out there, including our medical staff. I also have faith in the athlete. Additionally, he will not place himself in a situation that could endanger either his or our season. Therefore, if we choose this weekend, it’s because everyone believes he’s ready.
As Boston attempts to assemble a postseason run to end the 2025 season, Bregman’s return would be appreciated.
Despite only appearing in 51 games this season, Bregman received his third All-Star selection. In his debut season with the Red Sox, he batted.299 with 11 home runs and 35 RBI.
Bregman’s bat and glove at the hot corner might help stabilize a Red Sox club that has been lacking in his output, particularly after the team sold Rafael Devers last month. He is also known as a seasoned leader with two World Series victories to his name.
Even though Bregman’s comeback to the starting lineup might only include one or two games against the Rays at Fenway this weekend, he thinks those first outings will help him recover before he gets extra time off the following week.
Bregman told the AP, “What I need to do is hopefully be back playing by the end of this week.” Additionally, make sure we continue the trend correctly by working on my leg and building up during the All-Star break.
