Lionel Messi is on the way to New England for Wednesday meeting with Revolution

Lionel Messi will be at Foxborough, at the very least.

His social media video from Inter MiamiOn Tuesday afternoon, Luis Surez, a 38-year-old legend and teammate, among others, boarded the team’s charter aircraft for the journey to New England.

Thus, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner, who is the finest player in the world, will overcome the first obstacle when he plays the Revolution on Wednesday night at Gillette Stadium. It seems that the only things that could prevent him from playing are workload concerns or some other X-factor, given there have been no known injuries and the gametime temperature is predicted to be a comfortable 71 degrees.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m., and starting lineups are usually disclosed approximately one hour prior. Tickets are still available for the match.

In front of 65,612 spectators at Gillette on April 27, Messi scored twice and provided an assist in Inter Miami’s 4-1 victory. The turnout this year will not reach that Revolution franchise record; the team only offered upper-deck seats on the western side of the stadium, probably because of the decreased demand this season.

In his 14th MLS match of the season, Messi scored twice and provided an assist while playing the entire ninety minutes for Miami in Montreal on Saturday. The Herons will play five games over the next 15 days, including one in Nashville on Saturday.

Messi gave what amounts to a speculative hint regarding his desire to play the whole Miami league slate following Miami’s June 29 withdrawal from the Club World Cup.

He said on social media that it’s time to concentrate on the upcoming MLS season and all that is ahead.

Messi had five full days to recover before the Montreal match because Inter Miami was eliminated from the tournament after losing 4-0 to Paris Saint-Germain, the European champions. With a 9-3-5 record and 32 points, Inter Miami is comfortably in the playoffs in sixth position in the Eastern Conference.

Eleventh place goes to the Revolution (6-7-6, 24 points), who have lost their past four games.

Due to their participation in the CONCACAF Champions Cup and Club World Cup, Inter Miami has played 29 competitive games this season, but only 17 in the league, which is several fewer than all but one other team. In June, the team participated in four CWC games, including its first league game since May 31 at Montreal.

For his effort in Montreal, Messi received his third MLS Player of the Matchday award this season. With 0.86 goals per game, he leads the league and is tied for third place in terms of goals contributed (goals plus assists).

Last season, Messi’s first full season in the league, saw a 5% increase in MLS attendance.

For Messi, the Revolution had plans.

On Wednesday at 5:25 p.m., a special event train to Foxboro Station will leave South Station, stopping at Dedham Corporate Center and Back Bay. Half an hour after the game, the return train leaves. You can purchase round-trip tickets via the mTicket app for $20.

The stadium gates will open two hours after the parking lots open at 3:30 p.m. Around 6:40 is when warm-ups are supposed to start.
