Port St. Lucie, FL – A tragic go-kart accident at Urban Air Adventure Park in Port St. Lucie, Florida claimed the life of 6-year-old Emma Riddle over the weekend. Authorities reported that Emma was riding with an adult when another kart collided with them, resulting in injuries that led to her death the following day.
Fatal Accident During Family Celebration
The accident occurred on Saturday night, Dec. 7, 2025, while Emma and her family were visiting the park to celebrate her sister’s birthday. Despite emergency responders rushing her to a nearby hospital, Emma succumbed to her injuries on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2025, according to WPTV. Authorities have not yet released specific details about the nature of her injuries.
Emma’s family described her as a child “full of life, love, and light,” whose spirit “touched every soul she met.” A GoFundMe page set up to support her funeral expenses emphasized her radiant personality, faith, and kindness. As of Wednesday morning, Dec. 10, 2025, the fundraiser had received over $9,000 in donations.
“Though her time with us was far too short, Emma filled every moment with laughter, compassion, and warmth,” the family shared. “She will forever remain a precious daughter, sister, and a cherished gift from God.”
State Investigation Underway
In response to the incident, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, which oversees amusement ride inspections, dispatched an inspector to Urban Air on Monday, Dec. 9, 2025. The park remains closed while state authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Urban Air issued a statement expressing its deepest sympathies to the Riddle family. “Our policies, procedures, and equipment are designed to keep children and families safe,” the park said. “Our team responded immediately, and emergency personnel arrived onsite. We are working with state and local authorities as their investigation moves forward.”
The park also confirmed that, out of respect for the family, operations would remain suspended as they support the ongoing investigation.
Park’s Safety Record Under Scrutiny
This is the second serious safety incident involving an Urban Air franchise in Florida in recent years. In 2019, a 10-year-old boy fell approximately 20 feet from a zip line after his harness allegedly failed at a Central Florida location. The child suffered broken ribs, a collapsed lung, and brain injuries, and the case was later settled in 2022.
Officials emphasize that all ride and equipment inspections are mandatory and conducted to prevent incidents, though investigations are ongoing to determine if any safety violations contributed to Emma’s death.
Community Mourns Loss
Emma’s untimely death has prompted an outpouring of grief from friends, family, and the local community. Residents are calling for heightened safety measures at amusement parks, especially those catering to young children.
The Riddle family continues to seek comfort and support from the community, highlighting Emma’s joy, faith, and the love she shared with everyone around her.
