New Movies Streaming

Clueless

(1995)

Clueless, one of two classics of Amy Heckerling’s coming-of-age films that were released on Netflix this month (the other being Fast Times at Ridgemont High), is both unmistakably of its time and consistently timeless. Although Cher Horowitz, played by Alicia Silverstone, is a quintessential 90s child, her character, which is based on Jane Austen’s Emma, can be identified with by people of any age. With a stellar supporting ensemble that includes Brittany Murphy, Dan Hedaya, Donald Faison, and a baby-faced Paul Rudd, you have the makings of a classic that continues to be viewed thirty years after its July 1995 premiere.

How to watch: Netflix is streaming Clueless.

Final Destination: Bloodlines (2025)

Returning after a 14-year hiatus, the sixth iteration of this venerable franchise follows its tried-and-true formula on a larger scale. It’s the descendants of a woman whose foresight saved hundreds of lives in the 1960s, not a tiny group of pals evading death. Even though she possesses a comprehensive book that explains how to keep defrauding Death, fate will still come up with inventive and gory ways to get the souls it is due.

How to watch: HBO Max is streaming Final Destination: Bloodlines.

The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!

(1988)

I’m pleased to say that the 2025 legacy sequel to The Naked Gun is the year’s funniest film and is unquestionably worth watching in theaters. That being said, nothing compares to this 1988 parody by Zucker, Abrahams, and Zucker, with the possible exception of ZAZ’s own Airplane! Liam Neeson simply cannot match the unique Leslie Nielsen as Det. Frank Drebin.

The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad is currently available for streaming on Paramount+.

New TV Shows Streaming

30 Rock

How about sitting in for a few episodes of Tina Fey’s Hollywood satire? It’s still about comedies that have an incredible number of jokes per minute. No party is like a Liz Lemon party, and now that Prime Video has made it possible, you can watch Liz Lemon parties on three of the biggest streaming services.

How to watch: 30 Rock is available on Prime Video, Peacock, and Hulu.

Built in Birmingham: Brady & the Blues

By producing his own documentary series on Birmingham City FC, the lower-tier English football team he became a minority owner of in 2023, Tom Brady is following in the footsteps of Welcome to Wrexham creators Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney (now legally Rob Mac). Brady may not have Mac and Reynolds’ comic timing, but he doesn’t hesitate to criticize legendary Wayne Rooney, which should make for entertaining viewing.

How to watch: Brady & the Blues: Built in Birmingham is available for streaming on Prime Video.
