A 30-year-old man from Glendale is charged with attempted murder after allegedly having his girlfriend and 7-year-old child get out of a car while he fired at a car thought to be carrying members of a rival gang earlier this year.
The event happened on September 10 when Burbank Police Department officers were called to Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center just before 5 p.m. to report that a man who had been shot was being dropped off at the hospital.
The man was taken to a trauma center to be treated after medical staff confirmed that he had been shot once.
The victim told police that the shooting happened near Victory Boulevard and Allen Avenue in Glendale. The victim was later released from the hospital.
A Burbank PD news release said, “The investigation revealed that the suspect was driving in the area when he saw another vehicle occupied by three people whom he believed were from a rival gang.”
At that point, the suspect, later named as Ramon Alberto Carrillo, allegedly ordered his girlfriend and child to leave the car while he fired several shots at it, hitting one of the people inside and then running away.
Carrillo was apparently out on bail for a separate felony firearm drug possession case out of Los Angeles. On October 30, detectives found him in a Chatsworth neighborhood and arrested him without any problems.
Once the case was turned over to the L.A. County DA’s office, the 30-year-old was charged with three counts of attempted murder and one count of shooting at a moving car.
Officials also said that Carrillo is still in jail without bail.
