Nantucket, Kennebunkport, and Newport were among the East Coast beach communities listed by the travel magazine as being even better in the fall.
According to the journal, the East Coast is especially charming in the fall, when cliffside walks and lighthouse lookouts are awash in fall colors.
According to Conde Nast Traveler, there are many reasons to enjoy the fall season on Nantucket, including the Sankaty Head Lighthouse, Bartlett’s Farm (the island’s oldest and largest family-owned farm), and the Fall Festival hosted by the Nantucket Conservation Foundation. Greydon House and The Wauwinet, which provide packages and promotions in the fall, are suggested lodging options.

The journal stated that visitors visiting Kennebunkport in the fall can take in the scenery at Rachel Carson Wildlife Refuge and Tyler Brook Preserve, as well as lodge at The Wanderer, a group of cottages along the shore, or at Hidden Pond.
