According to the US Geological Survey, an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.2 occurred Sunday night off the coast of Rancho Palos Verdes.
According to the USGS, it occurred at approximately 8:27 p.m., two miles west of the coastal village. The depth of the earthquake was around 11 kilometres.
According to the USGS’ “Did You Feel It?” function, which asks users if they felt any shaking from their location, dozens of people reported feeling the quake. People around the coast, including those in Santa Monica, Huntington Beach, and even as far east as La Mirada, reported the incident as of 9 p.m.
In recent months, a number of earthquakes have struck the Los Angeles County coastline, with the majority of these occurring in Malibu, where at least eight recorded occurrences of temblors higher than 2.5 magnitude have occurred.
owing to a continuous landslip that wrecked buildings and roadways and led several utility providers to withdraw their services from the region owing to the possible hazard, many Rancho Palos Verdes homeowners have already seen significant earth movement in the past two years.
