Oklahoma City, Okla. – The parents of a 2-year-old girl, Locklynn McGuire, have been arrested following a tragic incident in which the child was fatally mauled by a family dog. Authorities confirmed that Jordan McGuire, 34, and Darci Lambert, 24, were taken into custody on Nov. 21 on complaints of second-degree murder.
Discovery of the Tragedy
The Oklahoma City Police Department responded to a child welfare check at a residence in the 1500 block of Northeast 26th Street just after 11:30 p.m. on Nov. 18. Upon arrival, officers found Locklynn deceased inside the home.
According to Staff Sergeant Dillon Quirk, detectives from the Crimes Against Children unit immediately began investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
Investigation Findings
Detectives learned that Locklynn had been left in a room with one of the family’s four dogs and sustained severe injuries before being discovered. Quirk explained, “The child was left in that room with the animal for a substantial period of time before she was discovered deceased. And ultimately, a murder arrest came from that investigation.”
The investigation determined that the injuries were directly caused by the dog attack, prompting the arrests of both parents.
Charges and Legal Proceedings
Jordan McGuire and Darci Lambert face second-degree murder charges in connection with the death of their daughter. Further court proceedings have not yet been scheduled, and authorities continue to review the case details.
Community Response
Family members have set up a GoFundMe to assist with funeral and memorial expenses for Locklynn. The fundraiser describes her as “curious, gentle, and full of joy — the kind of little girl whose smile could brighten even the hardest day. She loved deeply and was deeply loved. Losing her in such a heartbreaking and unexpected way has left our entire family shattered.”
This incident underscores the critical need for child safety around pets, particularly in households with young children.
