2 Dead, 6 Hospitalized After Car Flees Memphis Police Attempted Traffic Stop

Police in Memphis say that two people were killed and six were hurt Thursday night when a car that was thought to be stolen sped off from a traffic stop.

A post on X from the Memphis Police Department says that at 5:03 p.m. on Nov. 7, officers went to a call about people who were involved in criminal activity. When police got to the 6300 block of Global Drive in Southeast Memphis, they saw the suspect car, which was a black Chrysler 300.

When the police tried to stop the car, the suspects ran away northward, hitting several other cars near Hickory Hill Road and Knight Arnold Road in the Chrysler.

Four people were taken to nearby hospitals, but their conditions were not critical.

Two people were declared dead at the scene of the crash where the stolen car hit a pole, and one was taken to Regional One Health in critical condition.

Another officer was taken to ROH but was not in serious condition.

The probe will be done by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
